Boo-ritos

Yes, Stef and I went to the Chipotle on Rosecrans around 6:00pm and received a FREE burrito. I just covered my hands, neck, and a headband and Stef put foil on her head and neck - not much at all. Not a whole costume worth. We believe we were the first ones to show up dressed as burritos (kind of) because the manager told the person running the cash register what was up and that we got free food. We got some strange looks, but it was definitely worth it. A few minutes after we arrived a couple came in wearing the same amount (very little) of foil and then as we left 3-4 carloads (probably 15-20 people) arrived all wearing extensive amounts of foil. We gave the "hollah! ya rock on for foil!" salute and left. From there, Stef and I drove to the OB Hostel where Renee was hanging out with Chelsea while she worked.

We kidnapped Renee and she came with us to the Chipotle in PB. For this time I decided to make a full helmet and bodice. The manager at this Chipotle was not very excited about giving us free food, or that we were wearing tinfoil. Very sad. So to cheer her up I made an even bigger deal of it - talking in my barely-audible barbarian foilmaster voice. So we got two total free burritos (didn't get receipts so I won't be getting an election day burrito.. too bad) and one is in the fridge waiting to be eaten. Those are massive burritos. Much fun was had.

I've been working for the last 4 hours on changes to this site. The search function is now working, on almost all pages. The last 25 songs in the "David Is Now Listening To" section is congruent with the rest of the site. Also fixed some smaller issues that nobody will notice - but I am anal, so I notice.

This evening I went to PLNU for a forum on the Christian stance on war (most particularly the Iraq war) including Dr. Wood, Dr. Reed, and Dr. Wright (who? - John). It wasn't near as heated as I've heard it was last year (although the person that told me this lies out of...), but it was still good. It seemed to me that the crowd was split pretty much down the center on Just War/Pacifist (or as John came to call it - "War on War in the name of Peace") stances. I believe the most interesting discussion came from an ex-marine that told about having to shoot at ambulances and other civilian vehicles/buildings because of the tactics used by the Iraqi people. Eric also took some pics of the forum, perhaps we will see those shortly.

Now, after a little more uploading, I'll sleep.

Florida's Electronic Touch-Screen Voting Machines

Give Democrats in your neighborhood the chills with this adorable re-creation of a computerized, touch-screen voting machine! Just like the real ones, our voting machine costume leaves no paper trail and comes with easily hackable-but totally adorable-software!

To make this costume, visit your neighborhood moving and storage facility and purchase a dish barrel. Cut the box down with a utility knife to fit your child-don't forget holes for head and arms-then add a coat of flat black paint. While the paint dries, use PageMaker to print the black-on-white touch-screen display, which can then be affixed to the dried box with spray adhesive. Add tights, an old computer keyboard, and you're set!

Total cost: Under $5.
Total time: Under an hour.

A Letter from Mindy

Pictures

Hello friends and family,

This is a long overdue email with some pictures of my lovely trip to New Zealand. I have had a wide variety of experiences: tramping with the Auckland Tramping Club (all of which are retired and hard-core trampers), learning to cook all sorts of meals, going with my eldest cousin Amy (14) to the beach to stay with friends, and getting to enjoy/learn about homeschooling. My four cousins Amy, Scott (12), Ariana (10), and Kent (6) have enriched my life completely. One of the pictures is a group of the homeschool kids who came over for the Lord of the Rings party. Amy and I hosted it and had an actual "middle earth" meal after the viewing of Return of the King. The kids are so into LotR--everyone is here because the movies were filmed here. Anyway, Amy made my dress and it is Arwen's dying gown (Liv Tyler the actress). She spent weeks on it and did a fabulous job.

I have loved the beautiful scenary. I leave this Sunday for the South Island..AFTER I run in the Auckland 1/2 marathon that goes across the Harbor Bridge. I am excited and have actually received coaching from Barry Magee, the Rome Olympic marathon bronze medalist. He attends the church my family goes to and offered free coaching for me..which is nice since he charges quite a bit. So I am getting to check off many things on my life dreams list.

I would love to hear from each of you. I will be gone for a couple weeks so if you don't hear back you will know why!

Love and prayers,

Lunar Eclipse Clouds

New Pictures

Tonight was the lunar eclipse. Unfortunately there are a bunch of rain clouds covering the moon so I only got a clear shot of the eclipse for about 15 seconds. That didn't stop me from climbing on the top of our apartment complex and taking a bunch of cool evening cloud pictures though. Upon doing so, though, a man from the complex across from ours let me know he's "...got something [I] can take a picture of!!!" Later he questioned if I was taking pictures of the "storm" - I affirmed his inquisition and he seemed satisfied with my response and returned to his domicile.

I have also created a panorama of pictures I took on the roof.

Confirmation

I went outside to look at the sunset of the day. Oooo that's a cool band name - Sunset of the Day. Use it, but I, herein, copyright said phrase. OK I was just outside looking at the clouds and pretty colours when the two kids from the first apartment in our complex came outside and said

girl: "you can come inside!!!"
me: "no thanks"
boy: "what're you doing???"
girl: "he's waiting for someone"
boy: "are you waiting for someone???"
me: "yup"
boy: "who are you waiting for?!?"
me: "my roommate"
boy: "why!?"
girl: "don't ask questions!"

They then went and hid behind a car and watched me stand there. Their mom then came out.

mom: "ok come inside, you can't be out here"
kids: "but we want to stand outside with him!"
mom: "you can't, you have to come inside, it's not safe around the street without someone watching you"
boy: "but he's our Dad!!!"
mom: "come inside NOW"
boy: "but Dad will watch us!!"
mom: "that's not funny, inside NOW"

While this happened I pretended to talk in my cell phone.

Things I learn from the homeless

Yesterday I learned two things from the homeless men in San Diego. At Bread of Life I heard a man talking to Captain Tom, thanking him for praying for everyone on the streets. He said he knows because of people's prayers and thoughts that they are kept safe. He said also to continue to pray, especially for protection from the police, because "...the police are the only enemy we have out there." He went on to say the rain is bad, but the cops are the worst. That's incredible to think about - the only thing people without a place to live really feel like they need to worry about are the people that are hired to "serve and protect" the community. Maybe the "right of center" would say because they don't pay taxes they don't deserve to be treated properly?

The other thing I learned is there are people that have to be scared of more than just the police. On my way to a meeting in Sorrento Valley I saw a man, probably 20-something years old with a dog, holding a sign on the side of the road in Mission Valley that read:

"Family slain by NINJAS. Need money for food, help my dog, and Kung Fu lessons"

I may be making up the Kung Fu lessons part, but if he didn't have that on the sign he sure should have.

Few things off the list

I'm finally out of the terrible grip of BOA (Bank of America) and in to the loving arms of Washington Mutual. Today I closed out my account with BOA and opened a new FREE checking account at WaMu. And because Dodeci has a business account with WaMu already, it took 5 minutes and my funds were instantly available. I also went to Performance Bicycle, where I bought my bike, and had the back rim worked on - it was bent after I ran my head into a pole and then ran my bike into a wall on El Cajon about a month ago. I also got a temporary page done for the DRB and am in the middle of doing 5 loads of laundry. Tonight I'm going to the Explosions in the Sky concert with guest band Goodbye, Blue Monday that I know of from Rachel Mournian - as her son is in the band. Should be a good show. I've also made a list of the other concerts that I really want to go to between now and December. Will I go to all of them? Nope, I'm too poor. But hopefully a few.

Today

Oh, and today I went to church then went to the NBH for lunch. They just got their vegetables over the weekend so Tiana made a salad, we made Gardenburgers and Boca burgers, and french fries and then Stef, Jenn, Scott and I played Scrabble.

Catch up

Last week I made Fabrice and Burak go to Rancho's for lunch after a meeting we had to discuss Pleenk. They agreed to get the shittake mushroom burrito even though they are both extreme carnivores. They both ended up loving it and I heard "are you SURE this isn't meat??!?" and "this HAS to be chicken!!!" the whole meal. I got an e-mail from Fabrice right after we got home just saying "Dude, that burrito was AWESOME!". Apparently Burak ended up not liking it after the fact, he decided it was too spicy, but Fabrice brings it up every time I talk to him now.

On Thursday night i went with Purganan, Meredith, and Michelle over to Whitney's parents' house in Poway to have a "The Office" marathon. We arrived around 5pm, ate, and watched all but one episode of The Office season 2, then watched the entire special on BBC America and then the documentary on "How I Made The Office by Ricky Gervais". Needless to say we didn't leave until after midnight. It was nice to hang out with P and Meredith and see Gaye, Scott, and Derek as well (Whitney's family).

Friday I had more work, met with Derren to discuss their new CD's artwork, website, etc. and hung out around the apartment for most of the day. Later in the evening Matt and I went dumpster diving (see previous post) and then I went to the NBH for a few hours just to sit and talk with friends. Stef, Tiana, Eric and I got nostalgic and talked about last winter and how it's now been a year since I've been hanging out with them. Crazy.

Saturday afternoon Michelle and I went to Balboa Park and just walked around for the whole afternoon. We ate at the cafe, took the free tram ride, and then spread out her sleeping bag and watched some SD Sheriffs play some rookie Police Academy cops in football. Later last night Tiana, Eric and I got pizza from Little Caesar's and then Michelle and I watched Cruel Intentions.

That's about it for the last few days.

Never felt so nasty

Matt and I just got back from dumpster diving for Monopoly pieces at McDonald's. Why would we spend our evening going through garbage, getting our hands covered in beef juices, mustard, ketchup, and every kind of cola imaginable? Because Brad and Jeremy did this last year and had enough Best Buy gift certificates and food vouchers to buy laptops, digital cameras, and take their entire church out for free food. We've found the areas around my apartment are probably a little too poor economically, so we'll be trying some different places in the next two weeks (Monopoly ends Nov. 12th) like La Jolla, Del Mar, etc. to see if that works. Brad and Jeremy have a system that has been working for them, hopefully we can adopt said system and reap the benefits of our fat fat FAT nation.

What did I discover from all this? People are nasty, fat, wasteful, disgusting pigs. And I love taking showers.

"The left is scared to death of God"

Audio clip

LIMBAUGH: The left is scared to death of God. They think Bush is a believer, and they got quotes from people that say Bush doesn't think, he just follows his instincts based on how he feels after he prays. He's just -- "this is horrible." They're out there and they're scared to death because they don't understand God. They don't understand a personal relationship with God. They can only think it's trouble.

Hmm... maybe in a most dick-ish way, he has a point. But Rush, are we supposed to "understand a personal relationship with God"? What does that mean? When did God (or Jesus) ask us to have a "personal relationship" with God?

Comments appreciated. :)

Bush Lightbulb Joke...

How many administration officials does it take to change a light bulb?

None. There's nothing wrong with that light bulb. There is no need to change anything. We made the right decision and nothing has happened to change our minds. People who criticize this light bulb now, just because it doesn't work anymore, supported us when we first screwed it in, and when these flip-floppers insist on saying that it is burned out, they are merely giving aid and encouragement to the Forces of Darkness.

Oh so relaxing

Currently I'm sitting back in my chair, working on Pleenk, listening to Miles Davis, allowing the cool rainy air to waft through the room. It's very relaxing and calm. Except for the annoying cars on the street outside my window, I couldn't be more content at this moment.

Last night Whitney, Charlie, Michelle and I went out to Hillcrest at 10pm to see I ♥ Huckabees. I read a bad review of it on SignOnSanDiego before we went, but I now believe Mr. Elliott over at the Union Tribune isn't much in to... thinking. It was a great movie, out of the ordinary, with a comedic/philosophical twist. Like to dable in existentialism and nihilism? This movie is for you.

I will now continue to enjoy the rain (that we haven't received in San Diego for 6 months), and continue working until Bread of Life in a couple hours.

Zarqawi Movement Vows al-Quida Allegiance:

The most feared militant group in Iraq, the movement of terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, declared its allegiance to Osama bin Laden on Sunday, saying it had agreed with al-Qaida over strategy and the need for unity against "the enemies of Islam."

The declaration, which appeared on a Web site often used as a clearinghouse for statements by militant groups, began with a Quranic verse encouraging Muslim unity and said al-Zarqawi considered bin Laden "the best leader for Islam's armies against all infidels and apostates."

Dream log - 10-17-2004

I was working in an inner city YMCA and after talking to some of the guys from Hawaii (Daniel, etc) they helped me make a music video with the Beastie Boys for Dodeci. I was talking to Mike D after the video shoot and he said companies like ours need to come up with a jingle - especially for websites. I said ya, but think about how much NBC paid for their's. It's not an easy thing to do. Then I remembered I forgot my camera back in the youth room so I walked through a hallway and into a room that had a pond, plants, and a very small ledge that I had to walk on to get my camera. On my way back outside of the room a very obese couple and the wife's daughter were walking in and the man was yelling at the woman talking about how he shouldn't have kissed her toe and gotten married in the first place. Then he got on the ledge and I had to walk by him. I walked by the daughter and mother and heard the mom say "well if this is the first time we've gone out after we're married maybe it's a sign" and i said "i agree" (she didn't hear me the first few times, but finally got it), so this meant she was going to get a divorce. I was then sitting out in front of the YMCA with J and there was an 8 year old kid next to me selling crack (although it looked like ice cubes in a bag) to gangsters that walked by. J kept getting mad and I was trying to explain to the kid that it's just money and who cares. There was a big dog. Lots and lots of kids were outside, it was night time, and older teenagers were recruiting them to sell drugs. Then I looked across the street and J-Lo walked in to a building. Everyone went "WHOA! J-Lo!!". We then saw her through the window and she looked right at me, I waved, she waved back and i thought i'd play a joke on all the kids outside so i said "hey J-lo, call me later, ok?" She walked back outside, walked right up to me, puckered her lips (which had bright green lipstick on) and said "ok honey, i'll call you later" and kissed me. I acted like it was no big deal and she walked back inside. I turned to the right where all my friends were sitting and they were all just staring at me with their jaws dropped. I just laughed and laughed and laughed because they were so stunned. It was awesome.

Zach and Mandy

Oooooo Star Magazine's got the 4-11 on Mandy and Zach's new love connection.

Come back to me Mandy.

Not your average BOL

Michelle sat down and was visiting with a woman that she found out is 8 months pregnant, has a 4 year old daughter, and nowhere to stay. Apparently she was living in FL with a guy that ended up not working out, so she moved out here to stay with friends but kept getting kicked out and couldn't find anywhere else to stay. So after BOL Christie and I dropped Hip-Hop (Christopher) off at the church, then me at my place, and Christie and Michelle took the mom and her daughter to their place. I drove Michelle's car over around 10:00pm and they were already asleep. So Michelle, Christie, and I stayed up for about an hour talking then slept. Woke up around 6am and Michelle brought me home before they go to see Jenn Tracy this morning to try and find them a place to stay. I think it was a little overwhelming for C&M but what a great thing to be able to do. Those crazy Golden girls - one is in the Caribbean with the Peace Corps helping people clean up their homes and lives after a devastating hurricane, and the other is here using her nursing-know-how and own home to hospitably bring a pregnant woman and daughter off the streets. Gotta love 'em. So this wasn't exactly the most ordinary Bread of Life. Oh, and it had to be Christie's first and Michelle's second visit to BOL.

Also I forgot to mention we called Kelly on her birthday, Monday, and talked to her for about 30 minutes. We got cut off (come on Skype, give us a timer or warning about these things!) and I put more money in, but it didnt' seem to go through. Anya called and we said good bye via cell phone. It was good to be able to talk to her and hear a couple good stories. For instance: Kel decided she would open a can of soup but couldn't get the can opener to work. She was in the dark with nobody else in the house and couldn't get it to work, then remembered she saw a man open a can with a knife, so she tried to use a knife she had handy (Kel, where'd you get a knife like that?...) but still couldn't puncture the can. She then starved. Oh, and she's living with a guy from Texas named Himay (spelling?).

The O'Reilly Factor

Interview - Bush Talks to O'Reilly - select Video from the Photos and Video window in the transcript to view the interview.

After watching this interview, it shows me two things:

1) Bush truly believes the course of action he takes is correct, falls in line with his moral and ethical process, and is doing the "best" for the American people

2) Bush isn't conservative enough for O'Reilly (see militarization of Mexican border, views on France, etc) which has a lot to do with his "undecided" comments on The Daily Show.

It's hard not to get so overwhelmed with either side that you hear everything from the other "camp" as constantly and overtly comical or incendiary. This kind of interview helps me, at least, see Bush as a person - instead of a monkey t-shirt or a "LIAR" poster - with values, views, opinions, and insight. And that I can understand why I differ from his decisions.

David's side note:

I think we (the Church) need to remember, along with realizing we are in a self-involved and personal-interest justifying society that is in direct contrast with the communal and love-for-neighbor teachings of Jesus, that while we may, as Christians, lean more towards the left - that the right still has views that are worth listening to. We have to listen to both sides. Of course its hard, but we also must realize a majority, I would assume, of our brothers and sisters in Christ follow the ideals and beliefs of the "right of center" - especially where the two have become indistinguishable in structure and make-up. We have to treat each side with as much criticism, understanding, and thoughtful consideration as the other, or we merely become an integrated part of the system whose power we are not under.

But O'Reilly is still an ass.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

Jon's interview with Bill O'Reilly ended up going a lot better than I would have thought. And when Bill calls Jon a pinhead - Jon just laughs in his face. What better response?

Christopher Reeve dead at 52

I remember watching the old Superman episodes with my dad back in elementary school and him talking about how this was his favorite show growing up. Then of course watching the different Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve and dressing up, then pounding my brother. Or trying to turn back time by flying around the world so I could rescue damsels in distress. What can I say? It's Superman. I think his continuing fight after the accident and his ongoing efforts to battle and advocate for spinal cord research made him a great role model on and off the silver screen.

RIP Superman

Bush's bulge stirs media rumours

A recent report on BBC NEWS discusses various Internet rumors about Bush's "bulge in the back" as a possible radio wire feeding him answers.

Internet websites alleged the apparent bulge, during last week's debate in Miami, was a radio receiver feeding him answers from an offstage aide.

Seems a little to conspiracy theoristic for me. Come on, they're talking about the debate in Miami? - he did terribly during the first debate.

Debates, leftists, and tennis

I spent most of yesterday fairly concerned. I woke up realizing that I once again have no money, bills to pay, and not a whole lot of work in sight. Although we WILL be releasing PLEENK very soon - please e-mail me if you are a designer/freelancer and can help test!!! - but it may take a little while before we start seeing any kind of money from it. We've decided to give a basic plan away for free, then charge for upgrades. But that means we have to wait until people are familiar with the system and want to expand their horizons of Pleenkocity before they upgrade and actually give us money. Once we get a great number of people signed up it will be a great system though. We shall see... Yesterday evening consisted of watching the debates, hanging out with friends at Chelsea's, and then watching Scrubs/Simpsons until I fell asleep.

What do I think about the debates last night you may ask? Well, I feel Bush did a much better job this time when you're referencing his demeanor, character, and steadfastness, but he talked in circles quite a bit more and of course got too upset for this calm natured fool (me). Kerry gave the same great performance as last week, proving once again his years in debate and oratory training have paid off in a strong silver tongue. I think both candidates did a much better job of showing they know their constituants. Kerry came off as poised, cognitive, and assured, while Bush was strong, overpowering, and fiery. Both showed personalities that someone in their "camp" would see in a positive light. Based on content alone I believe Kerry walloped Bush, but I think a lot of viewers were probably apt to contrast Bush's performance last night with last week's, so voting for Bush as winner is almost like saying "he did much better" or he's been "working hard." Get it?... ehh....

I arrived at Chelsea's in OB to find 7 girls in a hot tub and Scott sippin some syrup in a chair outside. Within 5 minutes of tubbing, the girls were joined by a complex-mate of Chelsea's that immediately entered into a conversation with the question "so do you consider yourself a liberal or a leftist?" and you can imagine where it went from there. We all just took off. He was just looking to argue. We sat around and listened to Portishead and ate ice cream. Renee, Jenn, and Scott left around 11:00pm and then some other friends of Chelsea's showed up (Captain, Hess, Jill, Andrew, Brad, etc), but Stef didn't know any of them and I only knew some of them in briefness, so we took off around 12:00pm. I came back home, watched a Scrubs ep, then a Simpsons ep (which contained talk of Burns' alma matre: Yale University, which got me thinking of grad school which I've decided I will tentatively schedule beginning the application for in the Fall of '05), then fell asleep around 4:30am.

This morning I played tennis for a couple hours with Scott starting at 10:30am, then ate some free food and got hounded to vote by some of the community center volunteers. Sausage is no longer appetizing. And actually I haven't had meat in over a week. Look out world, I think I may have completely changed to vegetarian. It's so expensive though... :(

NEW

As you can see by now, the new design is complete and implemented. I still have few things i'm working on (the audio player, sidebar, more graphics) but the great majority is done. I'd love to hear some comments, especially after spending the better part of the last week on all this!

Dream log - 10-4-2004

I remember something briefly about a hotel on the side of the cliffs overlooking the ocean that was very unsturdy. Each floor was made out of rubber and it had a huge hole in the middle of the hotel. There were earthquakes and we would have to hold on to the sides so we didn't fall through the middle of the hotel. Next a group of us were spending the weekend at Kelly's parents' house (which I've never seen) and I had to do a presentation the next day on making a design portfolio. I called my seminar "The Bargain Barn Dot Com" and I thought it was hilarious and brilliant. Kelly was telling me her plans after the weekend and that included doing her parents' laundry because they had been gone for such a long time on a cruise. 10 Sundays. I was supposed to have lunch with her on Tuesday. She wanted to make sure they had enough clothes so we started walking over to that side of the house - which was huge - and had to walk up the side of the wall where the stairs were. There were very small holes that were supposed to be doorways that we had to get through. At one point there was a group of people coming back from her parents' room and there was a traffic jam. So we just sat there. Jeff Skalisky was on my right, Winter and J were on my left. Jason said something about how it could work out because "The bottom dwelling sharks have really sweet teeth!" Jeff thought it was hilarious and they started talking about Biology and how the sharks' teeth were straight and could detect sweet and sour. Next thing I was on the way to the beach with Kallie, Kelly and and Kris Monier. There was a man out in front of his shop shooting paintballs at the cars so I had to wait until he needed to reload before passing him by. After passing him we went in to a convinience store. Because we were going to the beach Kallie checked to see if the shower that was there before was still in operation. Nope, just a bathroom now. I started looking at the different weird stuff the store was selling on the side wall and one was Dick Cheney's "Footeartoenaytor" which was like a small electric razor to shave nose and ear hair. We left and I lost track of those two but saw two gangs that had tigers. One gang was wearing orange and had an orange and white tiger - the other was purple. They had low rider cars and big pimp coats and the very large tigers. I got to the end of the street and i got to thinking about how I would have liked to pet the tigers. Right then a parade passed by me that had really old, small tigers pulling a carriage, a llama or two, monkeys, and lots and lots of camels. I really hated the camels. They kept getting in my way and the monkeys kept hitting me on the head. I wanted to touch all of them though so I could tell people I touched all these different kinds of animals in such a short period of time. I finally got through the camels and walked on to the beach. That's when I remembered why we were going there in the first place. The Bush family had set up a building to throw a holiday (not sure which) party for the Hussein family. They didn't expect Sadam to come, but for the rest of them. I walked in the side door of a building and got in line. There was a VERY long line that you had to stand in in order to get your picture taken with Laura Bush. Around the corner I saw Barney the Dinosaur - he was there in case the kids cried. To the left of the wall that was blocking Barney was a doorway and above it there was a sign that said "The Corp's Shower Scandal". There was a lot of pink lights and fake fog and nobody was going in or out. I looked at Laura and she said it was supposed to be a joke for George but they didn't think he got it. I sure didn't. Right then I saw Kris pass by me and walk in to the right door of the shower scandal room. He started making sexual noises, grunts, and the like then came out with a towel over one shoulder, completely naked, and just walked out of the building. His band-mates put him up to it. Those silly guys.

I'm going to be working on revamping the site - so a lot of the content on here will be down for a while. Just a heads up.
I believe I can say this with a clear conscience: Awesomeness reigns supreme.

Dream log - 10-2-2004

While sleeping on the futon I had a dream I woke up after sleeping on a futon. In the dream I found myself in a large house in Colorado - a house with a steep triangle roof, in a coldasac. I was living with or around all the cast members of Scrubs. And we were putting up Christmas decorations! Yay! Elliot was helping string some garland and silver balls to be hung on the front of the house and I walked out to the middle of the coldasac to help another actor (the guy from the Drew Carey Show, Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite - you know the guy) because we had a sign above the house. It said: "Merry Noffie Christmas" becuase the people that owned the sign (lights) before us were named Noffie. We were trying to figure out how to plug to connectors together to have it not show Noffie - but then move Christmas over so it said Merry Christmas. It said Merry Nof mas a few times. I then turned around and saw Bob Kelso standing upstairs in his own house sipping on some wine and laughing at the hard time Elliot was having - then looked down into the house/room where the Janitor was and saw him sitting in a rocking chair naked. Bob raised his glass to Janitor and said "how's the little man?" "oh good, good" "good to hear." I went back inside the house and in the living room was an oven/stove from the 1800's that Josh Markle, Josh Bulgrien, and I had to re-vent to make the smoke go behind the TV and outside. It worked and I was happy because I could watch TV in the middle of the work day while making myself quesadillas or Gardenburgers.

The weekend til now

And here is a run down of the ongoings of the last couple days: I've slept quite good the last few days - only that one random fit on insomnia for me. Even though my sleep patterns are still crazy - going to bed around 4, waking up around 11 or so. Friday morning I worked and then met with Fabrice for a little while, then for lunch I met up with Eric at Rancho Food. Stef was there with a group from work for a B-day party so we chatted a bit. Heh, it was kind of funny - when you see someone randomly at a restuarant or out and about that you haven't seen in a while you can catch up and reminice. But when you see someone in the same random setting that you see all the time you aren't sure what to talk about. Haha. Because you still want to talk and there's no reason not to, but you aren't sure what to talk about. It was funny. Anyways, after Rancho's I went home, did some more work, got another version of the Concrete Magazine logo done, got the PLEENK skin done, etc. Friday evening (7pm) I met up with Steve, Chad, Dave Albert, Jennie, Sarah, Rach, Christie, and Michelle to watch Napoleon Dynamite.

Quick review of Napoleon Dynamite: I would have enjoyed it more if people hadn't told me I have to see this fantastic movie and I'll love it forever and ever until the world turns purple. And because everyone quotes the movie so much right now - I felt like I'd already seen most of it. The secondary characters were the best part - and I found myself laughing the most at the parts other people didn't find near as funny. Odd smirks or little sayings people don't get. All in all it's a funny movie, glad I watched it, but I wish I hadn't heard so much from/about it before I went.

After the movie we went to BJ's in Grossmont for Pizookie. We didn't get Pizookie. Instead - I got a calzone (for two so I could save some), we had potato skins, and fries, and the like. Nobody got Pizookie. Too bad! After BJ's I came home and worked on my website for a couple hours then got a call from Michelle. She didn't have anything to do today so I rode my bike to the NBH and picked up Eric's car (1:30am by now) and picked her up. Eric, Mich and I stayed up and chatted for a while, watched Scrubs episodes, then I finally bored Michelle to sleep while I worked on my website (oops) and I crashed on the futon. We woke up around 1am, watched 3 episodes of The Office, grabbed a pizza, then Whit, Michelle and I went downtown. We ate some chips and salsa and the like at TGI Friday's then went on top of the Ramada (St. James Hotel) for a while then came home. I began working on my website again and Rach called. She was up and energized because of her odd hours, so she came over here from about 1-3:30am and we looked at old Yosemite pictures, talked about our crazy families, etc. Now I'm going to sleep for 6 hours until church. Rach didn't know she was supposed to be working in the nursery so I may take over for her. We'll see.

Interesting bike riding story - on the way to pick up Eric's car last night at 1am I was riding down El Cajon Blvd. and saw an overhang from a building that I thought was made out of fabric. I ducked a little to try and brush my head under the fabric but quickly found out it was reinforced with a metal pole. I hit a metal pole with my head doing about 12mph. It knocked me back, I hit the wall and started skidding my body against the wall until I stopped. I was a wee bit discombobulated but luckily I had my dorky helmet on. Then I realized my music was not going! I quickly found the iPod and plugged my headphones back in. I was much more worried about hearing the song that was on instead of assessing any physical damage.

Walk around the block

I needed to get out of the apartment for a bit. So I took a short walk around the block with my camera and took a few pictures.

I really enjoy taking pictures of my surrounding community/neighborhood at night. It's so much more... dramatic. The lighting can make you see things that you'd never take notice of during the day, colors pop out, angles and compositions let you tell a very unique story, and people look at you like you're out of your mind.

"Booooahh [boy], wha-chu do-in wit dat cam'ra?? huuh? Betta not be tak'n picshuas 'a me!"
