This log comes as an apology to the beautiful news anchor-woman that I met when my friends were trying to set me up on a date in the bayou in Florida that made me realize I could love again. I'm sorry, but I was forced to go to Tatooine to be Darth Vader and run around in the dark through the hallways of an Egyptian pyramid pretending I had a cold until I tricked the security guards into thinking that a large headless man was me and they destroyed him. I am also sorry that after that I was talking to Jabba and my arch-enemy, a clown wearing a tuxedo, was tipped off by a large stretchy-sticky toy into knowing where I was and I was knocked out by a very large punching glove (that barely fit through the door) in the downstairs of the pyramid. But don't worry, I wasn't really knocked out, but I did have to pretend I was. I'll be back for you soon my dear.
Last week I also dreamt Brett crashed 50 Cent's new tour bus that he got for his recent album, into his old tour bus he got for his first album.

My latest ideas for a tattoo:
Just the tree (with ornament) - possibly with the words "Only the good die young" under it. To be placed either on my right bicep or the back of my right shoulder.
Or:
Same idea but no words. Eric says that one is lonely, so maybe this shot... possibly without the legs?

Just in case Turk wasn't already my favorite character on Scrubs, I just got done watching My Catalyst (Season 3 Episode 12) and noticed this:
Notice that he is wearing an Amnesty International t-shirt.

Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights.
AI's vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.
In pursuit of this vision, AI's mission is to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.

Upon trying to find a restaurant to dine at for the afternoon, we stumbled across a woman in the middle of the only intersection in Julian - directing trafffic. Yelling at the cars when to go or stay, the pedestrians the same. Was she drunk? Certifiably crazy? The mayor of Julian in street-attire? Or perhaps an extremely bored power-hungry Julian-ite with nothing better to do on a Friday afternoon than tell people what to do... You tell me.

Ahh T-Day. Although it's based on the rape, pillage, and defecation of the Native Americans, it's still a nice time to get with friends and family to remember that we have so much to be thankful for. I was planning on going home to OKC to spend Thanksgiving with the fam, but I have to go back early for Brad's wedding, so instead of flying home for over a week, coming back for about 2 weeks, then flying back for 2 weeks, I decided it would be better for me to just spend it with my Mid-City church family/friends instead. I made my way over to Stefanie/Renee/Jenn/Tiana's place (NBH) for this festivity. We had a large meal yesterday consisting of veggies, salads, Tofurkey, (Tofu-Turkey for us vegetarians and vegans which is actually really good), real Turkey, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, and the other traditional dishes. Good, good eating. Thanks to everyone that pitched in! There were about a dozen people there for the eats. After linner we cleaned up, tried to pack as much of the leftovers into the fridge as humanly possible, laid around and chatted for a bit, played Telephone Pictionary, then Nate, Stef, Renee, Jenn and I played a rousing 3 or 4 hour game of Progressive. This lasted until about 11:45pm. This morning a group of us headed up to Julian where we spent the afternoon. Many, many city slickers had the same idea so it was crowded. We waited about 30-40 minutes for the Julian Grille which ended up being mucho expensivo. Then it was time for pie and ice cream with cider. Mmmm the best part of Julian except for the mountain air. I got some gloves while I was there (thanks for the x-mas gift Mom) and then realized it's Buy Nothing Day! Oops! Oh well, I'll have to spend some extra time in what Eric calls "Consumer Purgatory". The gloves are well worth it.

I just received my invitation(s) to Brad's wedding in December... both of them...? Since they're both for "David & Guest" does that mean I get to bring 3 guests, or just 2? I have to eat twice as much? OK by me. And I've never laughed so hard at a wedding invitation as I am right now. Not because the invitation itself is bad or laughable - but to see Bradley Wilson's name on a wedding invitation is just about the funniest thing in the world to me. And then I think that Brad's going to be living with a woman for the rest of his life... a woman! Un-freakin-believable.
Sometimes there's crap that happens and you just have to listen to your mix of sappy music - for no more reason than that's the mood you're in. Here's an abridged version of my playlist of sappy songs that I've put in the Listen section for your enjoyment. Smooth listening, good for contemplation.

Thursday night I made myself some good burritos with the new groceries that I bought at my local grocery mart. I love that little place - it's a quaint, Mexican-American owned produce store combined with a smoothie shop named Senor Mango's. And it's pretty cheap, too. Can't beat that. When the only thing you can spend money on is food and bills, you make sure you get every penny's worth out of both. Thursday night I went with Chad and Kim to bowling, met up with Sammer and Bethany there. I didn't have the money to bowl, but Kim and I went back and forth for the second game. I did awesome things with a bowling ball. I believe I got a spare every frame (no strikes though... odd).
Friday I worked quite a bit getting Pleenk stuff done and some work on my new online portfolio (ya I'm going to try and get some more freelance work or a part time job somewhere... and probably looking at getting a car in a month for that - there aren't a lot of people to hang out with around these days so not having a car makes it even more difficult to get out). Friday evening I went with Stef, Tiana, Eric, Roscoe, Colleen (Roscoe's wife), and Jeremy Morgan to Tokyo House in PB. Sushi. mmm Wasabi. Good tasty deliciousness. After PB we met up with Michelle, Chelsea, and Renee at the Triple Crown Pub near my place and played ping pong for a couple hours then turned in.
Saturday morning I went with Eric to the church to help Jamie Gates move a bunch of books from a storage unit that a guy in a community we've done some work and conferences with, donated to us. Boxes and boxes. Literally. It took two trips and we thought Jamie's van was going to blow its tires. So that took a good couple hours and then we went to Cotijas for burritos. Deron met us there and we discussed the research he's been doing recently on the migration of the Nazarene church from homeless/poor ministry to middle-class suburbia. Interesting for sure. Especially after Deron was telling me he found some early documents with slang words such as "darkie" and "coloreds" in them. That afternoon I played tennis with Matt while Brenda shopped. Saturday night (ya, that's last night) I went out with Chad, Dave, and Steve to the homecoming basketball game at PLNU. We left a little early, but we were whooping up on MNU when we left, so we felt secure in a victory. We were planning on meeting up at a Mediterranean Cafe downtown with some girls, but it took them forever to call back and they were getting down there late - the guys decided they're too old now and didn't want to go. So we watched the Variety Show video with Tim and Shauna as the hosts (very funny DRB documentary on the break up of the band due to Cole's playing of the Cajon) and then watched SNL - hosted by Luke Wilson, musical guest U2. The music was the best part. And seeing Bono hump some lady on the front row of the audience was just an added bonus. I spent the night out in PLNU at their place and then came back here this morning for church.
After church we had a meeting about the use of the church as a shelter during the rain in the next few months and then sat around for a little afterwards. Scott and I played some tennis this afternoon and then I rode my bike back here to write you all about it. So there you go, and here we are. We're having a church service at 6pm for the local congregations (nobody from Mid-City knew about it until yesterday or today) but I don't have a ride and dont' feel like freezing myself on my bike again. Guess I'll be passing on this one. What comes next for the exciting life of David? You'll have to continue tuning in.
Oh ya, and I burnt the spaghetti today so we had smoked noodles. The sauce rocked though.

This afternoon I went with Rach to the North Park Deli on 30th and University for lunch. We spent a good couple hours there talking about friends, relationships, school, church, the usual. Then we came back here so she could use my Internet, I introduced her to Ray Lamontagne, and then she took off. A little while later Whit and Tannan showed up, we stayed here for a bit, then headed downtown. Ate at Great Kahn's, then watched Skeleton Key starring Kate Hudson. We were the first audience EVER to see the film. Whit got a couple fliers and called in for some free advanced screening tickets, so we saw that, filled out a survey (had to sit in the WORST seats in the whole theater - we even got black X's on our forms because what we said didn't count or something), then left. Well kind of. After watching one movie we decided to see another, so we movie-hopped and saw The Incredibles. It was... dare I say... quite good. I liked it better, more entertaining, and.. I mean come on, it's Pixar! Now I'm going to eat a bowl of cereal, take a shower, and drift off into madness.

...a nice big ass is a wonderful thing to behold. and begrab. and maybe behump.
I'll smoosh my face into a soft ass cheek of a nice ass. i got no problems doin that.
I've been working on the new DRB album's artwork this weekend and thought I would post a thumbnail sneak peek of it for... whoever you are. It should be done in the next week or so depending on when I get the rest of the information from the band, but I'll be happy with its outcome - good portfolio material.
Worked on the DRB CD. Went out to eat with J, Winter, Brenda, Matt, Rach, and Jason at Pizza Nova in Point Loma. I was not aware there is more than one Pizza Nova restaurant. Good times, good food. Winter and J having x-mas party on Dec 11. Winter wants dress up nice to be "mature." Bah. Good salad. Good pasta. Expensive. :( J, Matt, and I watch Winter and Brenda play Halo. J and Winter depart. Brenda and David play Halo and then Simpsons Road Rage. Matt takes the wheel and makes Ned say "aaaaaahhhhhh I'm comin' to join ya, Maude!" Laughter comes. Matt takes David home. Got a call from Mark - Greg Laswell with Derren playing at LeStat's. Start longboarding to LeStat's. Get call from Mark - $5 and David has no cash. Comes back and watches SNL. Watches first skit of classic SNL with Eddie Murphy. Quote for the night:
Silent night, holy night.
It's okay, everything's bright..
'round that virgin chick, she had a kid.
Who grew up to be famous.. you all know what he did.
Sleep! It's quiet in heaven!
Sleep! Heavenly peace.

Riding in shotgun while my sister drove the family mini-van, I was looking out the window and saw a 4 foot rodent wearing a grey Point Loma Nazarene University sweatsuit - both top and bottom attire. I yelled for my sister to stop, so she pulled into a driveway next to the large beaver, squirrel, whatever it was, and I grabbed my cell phone. I watched as the large varmit opened a shed via a doorknob, looked inside, and then walked away. I hopped in back of the mini-van and opened the sliding door and called for the rodent. I tried taking its picture with my cell phone, they all came out blurry, and when it came near it was obvious the large one had left and 3 smaller squirrels were left in its place - also wearing the PLNU grey sweatshirts. I went back home - which ended up being Kris Monier's old house on 19th street - and took a nap with one of my friends. When I woke up she was gone and I walked in to the bathroom/closet to change pants. I was talking on my cell phone with one of my friends and talking to Jason, who was sitting in the bedroom on a sofa, when all of a sudden I realized the phone was no longer in my hands. I looked around and found it on top of the mini-fridge in the closet and picked it up, but it didn't have a battery. I looked on the ground and the battery was in a puddle of purple liquid. I picked it up and tried putting it back in, but the cell phone wouldn't work. Jason started laughing uncontrollably at me, so I laughed too. I asked why we were laughing - apparently while I was on the phone I fell asleep standing up and dropped the phone. The battery popped out and when it hit the ground it broke and battery acid leaked all over the floor. So I was on my hands and knees in the middle of the closet/bathroom in battery acid, so i crawled into the bedroom to laugh very, very hard. I caught my reflection in the mirror and it was horrifying how i was laughing. I got very self conscious about how I laughed and covered my mouth. Then I was reminded that I was going to be late for my flight. I shot down to the airport and was standing in line trying to figure out my voucher because I needed to turn it in and then pay $9.99 for my flight, but as I was doing this a voice came over the loudspeaker calling my name. I rushed to the front of the line and they pointed to a terminal that had "WAITING FOR DAVID OVERHOLT" on a sign in front of the doorway. So I ran over and was rushed through the check-in process, kept the voucher (in my mind i was being tricky and got to use it for another flight later) but then felt bad and asked if i needed to pay anything. They got frustrated and just yelled no. I ran down a bunch of hallways and open doors following a flight attendent until I found the plane. I got inside the plane and as I made my way to the back the entire plane started tilting. I ran back to the front of the plane and it tilted the other way. I tried getting in the middle to balance it out but it went tail-first backwards and I fell out of the plane onto the ground. i looked up to see about 4 planes suspended in air in a very large room. This was obviously a museum for airplanes. Someone was there when i hit the ground and I said "I noticed as I was falling out of the plane that you changed the apholstery on the seats" "Yes, we did". I sat down in a booth on the left side of he large room and it ended up being McDonald's and I was sitting with my family. I wasn't eating, i just sat there. A kid was making faces at my through the glass. Suddenly a few friends came through the doorway, and they were obviously really drunk. I yelled hey to them and they came over and sat down. My family had left to go back to the hotel by this time. I walked past my friends to get a refill of pop (yes, pop this time) and the girl making faces started "shusshing" me. I hit the glass to scare her and make her shut up. As I got my refill the kid's dad walked up to me and started yelling at me. He thought when I yelled hey to get my friends' attention that I was yelling at his daughter. I explained that i was yelling at my friends and he felt dumb and walked off. I noticed three people in the group - and they were all drunk and had girls with them. Adam Taylor (Brian Taylor's younger brother from Bethany HS), Ryan DeLong (Ray DeLong's younger brother from Bethany HS), and Jeff Purganan. We started talking about our militia (I believe for Halo 2, but it was also an underground militia and we would really have weapons) and Purganan would not give up the fact that he wanted to be in charge of weapons. So he was.

Ya, not sure who it is - but someone is messing around with the skylight in my bathroom right now... oh well.
Last night, around 10:00pm, Stef and I drove around for over and hour trying to find Ricky. Ricky is the man that Stef works with and leads the support team for. Apparently he went out of his apartment to smoke and got locked out, so he decided to roll around North Park for a bit - then went downtown on the bus - then found himself at the naval hospital in front of Balboa Park at 3am and finally called Stef to pick him up. I got back here around 11:30pm and Tiana, Eric, and I watched Waiting for Guffman. I then watched a Scrubs episode and fell asleep.
Today I'm still waiting for the DNS to resolve, Fabrice is working on the website, Burak is working on the application, and I have nothing to do for it. So I rode my bike to Rancho Foods and got some hummus. I was going to buy shiitake mushroom patties but they just changed the market part of Rancho's to vegan only - and since the patties have eggs, they don't sell them. Oh, and outside of Rancho's I ran my bike into a taxi. The driver wasn't happy with me, but it entertained the people waiting for a bus across the street.

Ya, I really want an iPod. They're so.... practical. And you can quote me on that.
I have spent much too long on my cell phone today. First I spoke with Fabrice for about 15-20 minutes, Theresa for 50, Michelle for 36, Jason for 15, and Brett for 40. This is out of character for me because normally I spend 5 minutes a day, tops. And normally it consists of work-talk with Fabrice.
I'm so very ready to release Pleenk. So very, very ready. We've got the new dedicated server working today, but are waiting for the DNS to resolve, and then we have a few small changes and then a final run-through by Burak, Fabrice, and I - and then it's launching time!! Hopefully Friday or the latest on Monday. Don't worry, I'll keep you - yes you - updated via www.davidoverholt.com. Thanks for visiting, please come again. Oh, which reminds me, if you have sent me an e-mail in the last 24 hours to my david@dodeci.com account, I haven't received it. Because of the server switching, all of my e-mails were unable to be delivered. Sorry - please send to david@davidoverholt.com, wait and send them again later, or you can use my contact form on www.davidoverholt.com. Yes, that's www.davidoverholt.com. For all of your small blue shoes needs.

I was a security guard for the Queen of England. At one point we were in Kansas City, on the freeway system that goes over the harbor, as we looked down at all the people in the middle of the harbor on their boats and rafts, enjoying a peaceful Sunday afternoon. Think La Grande Jatte literally on the water. We then travelled to San Francisco for the Olympic Games. We had to travel under a tunnel in order to see the Red Sox play, but were chased down at one point and trapped in a room. There was a group of terrorists or guards or something that were after the Queen that trapped us in there, and they sat me down on the ground and explained to me something. That because this very large dog that was next to me - a golden lab - was fighting with their new police dog, and because I was raised by the lab in my childhood, they couldn't let me go. Ya, that sucked. And we didn't even get to see the Red Sox play!
So what's better than David Overholt's website? I'll tell you - a website made by the inner child of David Overholt. The 15 year old, popularity obsessed, anti-conformist, goth child version of David.

10x10 / 100 Words and Pictures that Define the Time / by Jonathan J. Harris
Every hour, 10x10 collects the 100 words and pictures that matter most on a global scale, and presents them as a single image, taken to encapsulate that moment in time. Over the course of days, months, and years, 10x10 leaves a trail of these hourly statements which, stitched together side by side, form a continuous patchwork tapestry of human life.
I put this in the Listen section, but I don't know if anyone actually checks that like they should, so I'm making sure people see this site: BILLY HARVEY MUSIC
I was just looking through some old pictures, being nostalgic and sappy (when am I not sappy?..... *cough, cough*) when I came upon this picture that I took this summer in Seattle during Winter and Jason's wedding at the Fish Market. It just deserves to be posted here, now, as a random pic from Dave.

"Much of the misinterpretation of this election derives from a poorly worded question in the exit polls. When asked about the issue that most influenced their vote, voters were given the option of saying 'moral values.' But that phrase can mean anything - or nothing. Who doesn't vote on moral values? If you ask an inept question, you get a misleading result."

After a fun filled night of toothpaste-mirror fun, I watched a Simpsons episode and headed to bed. This morning I talked to my mom for a while about coming home for X-Mas, Thanksgiving, Pleenk, girl interests, my friends getting married, etc. Scott and I then played a bit of tennis and then Eric joined us for a romp out to Carlsbad for some outlet store shopping. It's been so long since I've bought anything other than food! So I bought some shoes - mom, thanks for the early Christmas gift. I needed/wanted some new tennis shoes so I don't kill myself while wearing the hiking shoes I've been using. Also got some Etnies since they were buy one get one for $5. Hard to turn that down. I then came back here, worked on Pleenk, cellularly conversed with Michelle for a bit, watched Fox Rox and some of the SD Music Awards, and now I'm going to watch SNL. Check out the new song I got from watching Fox Rox (it's in the audio player in the Listen section) - Ray Lamontagne - Trouble.

No good American will be left behind!
Ladies and gentlemen,

When the provisional Ohio votes are counted and if George W. Bush is re-elected, single, sexy, American liberals - already a threatened species - will be desperate to escape.
These lonely, afraid (did we mention really hot?) progressives will need a safe haven.
You can help. Open your heart, and your home. Marry an American. Legions of Canadians have already pledged to sacrifice their singlehood to save our southern neighbours from four more years of cowboy conservatism.
And another game, but I put this one here because I am undefeated in this game - in real life. Well not this game exactly, but the game much like it. Ask Michelle, we recently played. Sucker.
If anyone has ever been fortunate enough to play Super Monkey Ball or Super Monkey Ball 2 for Game Cube then you know seeing that you can play Super Monkey Ball online is amazing.
Ya the online version isn't very much fun, but it's still something to get up outta your seat for.

Last night I had a dream that I decided to transfer schools and move to Washington D.C. (no doubt because of the elections).I got on campus and didn't know anyone. People kept telling me it was funny that I was stuck in a room, and likewise "at the table with the guy that has to get an abortion." Apparently one of my roommates in the dorm was going to have an abortion. When I first arrived to the dorm I couldn't find my room, so I ended up wandering through the back hallways and through quads trying to find it while carrying my bags. I walked through several rooms with painted walls, hanging lights, bunk beds, etc. But they were all connected by odd backdoors. Once I got situated I was looking off the patio of my room at the ocean... ya... and saw Julie Bley, Amanda Mohling, and Holly Tate (all of whom are married, so I'm going by maiden names). I walked around with them for a while and talked about how I wanted to go back to San Diego and I didn't know why I was in DC. Later we went to a movie theater in an old VW bus and the tickets cost 1.63 each. I was walking with some new friend and a man that was a professor at the college I was attending that looked exactly like Dr. McKinney. He mentioned something about a friend that thought he looked like McKinney, and I started laughing because I was about to tell him that. I fell on the floor and laughed really hard. He wasn't amused and walked off.
Another dream that I forgot to log is short, but oh so beautiful. It was last week sometime.
I was being chased around a shower room by Samuel L. Jackson (also known as my dad) with a pan of brownies.

Well if you're on my site you probably already know George W. Bush was elected, for the first time, to president of the United States for the next term starting in January (if you remember correctly, Bush was appointed the presidency in the 2000 election, by the Supreme Court). I just watched a bit of Kerry's concession speech and at the end Dan Rather had a brief message from the Bush "camp" saying Bush:
...sees this as a mandate and will go on
agressively with his plan.
That's what I'm most scared about. I have never thought a Kerry victory was by any means an amazing step in the right direction for the US, or that Kerry is an outstanding figure that would be so much better than Bush. But the problem that I see is that it's Bush's second term. He already has policies and agendas in place. The fact that Bush won a second term in office is only telling him, and his administration - "Hey, America thinks you're doing a great job. Keep doing what you're doing." Which means more unilateral action, less regard for the environment, more problems with the economy, and the list goes on and on. This administration will never see how very close it was to losing, they won't think of it as nearly 50% of America disagreeing with the way they are running the country - they will instead think of this as 100% satisfaction and admiration, and even more frightening - as God's will.
Speaking of, here is a brief story I got from my friend Sage Sheldon in the e-mail today.

As I waited to vote this morning at my polling place in a Baptist church, I noticed a stack of "voter guides" that some people were picking up and reading. They were propaganda from the church, telling voters how God "expected" them to vote: against same-sex civil rights in Oklahoma, for candidates that would ban abortion, and for Bush as our God-anointed leader. It strongly implied that any vote other than Republican would be a vote against God's will. Having these guides in a polling place was clearly illegal.
I showed the precinct captain the guide and asked him to confirm that they were illegal in a polling place. He must have noticed them since many people were reading them and scattering them everywhere. He reluctantly agreed that they were illegal but made no effort to remove them. I scooped up the pile and dumped it in the trash and then poured coffee all over them - my act of civil protest at this outrageous attempt to intimidate voters.

I more than believe this happened. I wouldn't doubt if the exact same thing was taking place at some of the churches I've attended.
All I can do is remember this government and this administration has no reign over me. My life and my submission is in God and in the Kingdom that is and will continue to be formed. So let'm come and get me. It'll only make us (The Church) stronger.
And on another bright side...
The Daily Show will have 4 more years of great material to satirize!

Did you know George W. Bush is running against John F. Kerry for the United States president?
11/01/2004
The results are in. Out of the 113,552 votes from 191 countries around the world: John Kerry won with 77.1% of the votes
My favorite is Canada - Kerry at 74.2%, Other with 16.7%, and Bush with 9.1% - and they're closer to being American than any of 'em.

The PowerMac G5 (owned by Dodeci Inc.) decided to stop working yesterday. This morning Fabrice and I took it to the Apple store and it will be getting repaired for the next couple days. How sad. :(
For now, I'm using my laptop. Good thing I don't have much high-powered graphicsing to do. Oh, and the top image thing (that says October) will have to wait until I get the G5 back.
Now I go eat lunch.
