Beginning last night while trying to use MySync to sync up my bookmarks, calendars, keychains, etc. between my PowerBook and my G5, I updated the firmware to my Netgear router. The router stopped responding in the dead middle of the update, and after an hour on the phone with technical support this afternoon with a man that I could barely understand, was told that it doesn't work and I need to have it replaced. I pulled out my old wireless router, and I'm good to go - just slower. Would it be that simple to remain up and running? No. My G5 has decided to start crashing again, and this time would lock up and overheat on each reboot. I now have my PowerBook and G5 running, but they're still not synching. So I'm trying several products, listed below, to back-up my precious data. The kicker is, if I hadn't tried to be good and back-up, sync, and organize all of my files - I wouldn't have had the network and then my G5 crash in the first place.
PsyncX - free, running it right now...
Synchronize! Pro X - $100, so I'm waiting to use this as a last resort
Folders Synchronizer X - $40, may begin using for quick synchronization and not back-up
Drive Genius - got an "Awesome" rating in Mac Addict, so I'm giving it a looksie
DiskWarrior - what a name, need I say more?
BootCD - free donationware, use it to make a Mac OS X boot CD with applications
iMsafe - used this one for a long time, only problem is it can't copy all the system root files I need, or make a bootable disk
I've checked out many, many more, but have weeded a lot out. I'd like anyone's opinions or comments if they have a back-up procedure they use.
