Work has comprised of a project for Blake (a guy in PB I met through Craigslist), a poster I'm working on for the Lifestyles for Sustainability Conference with Jamie Gates, and then a lot of planning for CityWise, Pleenk, Lateral Dynamics, and a proposal I've given to On Broadway Event Center. There are a few more in the works, but I haven't had a lot of actual work to do for a while - just preperatory stuff.
Key points of the weekend include... Friday night I went to Pokez Mexican Restaurant for Christie's b-day blow-out. I was curious who all was goign to show up since I've only known Christie through church and only for a few months - there ended up being around 20 people there and we took up about half the restaurant. It was good times. Definitely an eclectic group. Sorry to say, but this was the second time I've been underwhelmed with the food, though. It's a great place, fun, artsy, and interesting, but the sustanance needs some work. After Pokez we went to Heidi and Cassy's casa and just sat around and talked about all the great things we could be doing. You know, the norm. It was good though - I'm easy to please.
On Saturday I headed over to Brenda and Matt's place a bit before noon and we played Halo 2, ate Einstein's Bagels' bagels, and watched Scrubs until around 5pm. I came back home for a smidge then worked the first shift at the inclement weather shelter. It's been raining in San Diego for about the last week straight. The inclement weather shelter has been open for I believe the last 5 days in a row.
Sunday morning I hit church, then went to Stef's place and ate bagels that Shannon got in Hillcrest, played some Xbox with Stephen, went to Fry's with Scott, Jenn, Stef, and Stephen, then played more Xbox. Much destruction on Burn Out 3 and oddness in Oddworld was enjoyed. Stevie and I tried looking up how to softmod my Xbox without soldering anything or using a mod-chip, but I haven't had time to do much more research on this. I came back home, watched a game of AFL (Arena Football) on NBC (National Broacast Company) which is really lame, then went to the Wrights' abode for Simpsons. Michelle and I were the only guests. Not sure where everyone else was... hmm? We watched a couple episodes of Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy, then ducked out after a few minutes of watching the SNL First 5 Years program. It being a Sunday night with a holiday the next day, I went over to Heidi and Cassy's place and watched them paint really pretty gold glittery stars to put on their ceiling. We then made a run to 7-Eleven and sat out on their porch until around 2am playing "Would you rather" and looking at the amazing view they have of downtown in the rain. Of course I had to put my off sense of humor to work and I think I scared a few of the girls at their place. I got a few "WHAT?!!? You can't SAY THAT!!!" and "Who the hell is this guy?!!?" comments. Not my fault they can't chose between making out with their own Grandmother or kicking a baby... or being married to a man two feet shorter than themselves or being shot in the butt every night at 6pm with an elephant tranquilizer. Some people need to be shaken up a bit, don't you think?
Although a late night was had the night before, I went out to the Bean Bar with Renee on Monday morning for an hour or so (9:30am-ish) then went to Chelsea's where we met with Roger. We then went to Niko's for lunch and visited Jaimie Auginstine at the Scripps Hospital in La Jolla. Jaimie had a tumor removed from her pituitary gland last week and is being discharged today! From what Chelsea said she looked much better, and I think she looked fantastic after being in the hospital all week and especially after having brain surgery that took 7 1/2 hours! Although it hurt her to laugh, we brought her some entertainment for a couple hours. She'll be out for the next 2-6 months and will be at home for that time. After getting back from the hospital we got a big game together of mud football. If it rains in San Diego this much, you have to take advantage. Renee and I were driving through OB and noticed there were areas the water was up to the doors of some cars. This screamed mud football. Around 4pm (sorry to those that showed up at 3:30pm - you can't rush mud) we cracked open the MGD and played a rousing game of 6 on 6 mud football. It was awesome. We played for probably an hour or so - and yes, my team won. I'm a bit sore (including a jaw soreness I've had for a couple weeks - TMJ?? - and a nasty hangnail that makes it hard to walk) today, but it was all worth it. No pictures were taken by me - but Michelle has some I want to get ahold of soon. After football we went to Chelsea's apartment and jumped in the hot tub for a while. Renee, Chelsea and I then ate at Chili's, loafed around for a bit, then put on The Big Lebowski. Everyone turned in before the movie was over, so I was left to myself - I came back home and watched a Simpsons and fell soundly asleep. And now after 30 minutes of writing these adventures; I'm going to get something to eat, work on my projects, do my laundry (that I've been putting off for at least a week), go to Bread of Life tonight, watch Scrubs (maybe American Idol?) then it looks as though I may be working at the shelter overnight.
